Master Selection

In the heart of our Fratelli vineyards in Akluj, the joyful Hariyal, Maharashtra's state bird, can often be seen perched high on the treetops. This bird, known for its graceful presence and never touching the ground, became an unexpected symbol for our Master Selection wines. It reflects the harmony and finesse that we strive to capture in every bottle. As they say, we did not choose the bird—the bird chose us.

Master Selection was initially created through the collaboration of renowned winemakers Steven Spurrier and Piero Masi, who crafted three elegant wines – a red, white, and rosé – laying the foundation for an exceptional range. Today, Master Selection continues to evolve with the addition of a Late Harvest Chenin Blanc, expanding the range to four wines. While honoring its origins, the focus is now on capturing the harmony of nature and the expertise of our winemaking team, reflecting the dedication and craftsmanship that define Fratelli Vineyards.

Master Selection Red

The Red is a harmonious blend of Sangiovese, Shiraz, and Cabernet Franc, aged in French and American oak barrels to enhance its smooth texture and rich flavors. With its complexity and depth, it’s an ideal wine for those who appreciate both boldness and balance.

Master Selection White:  Blended from Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, the White offers a crisp, refreshing character with vibrant citrus notes and a smooth, medium-bodied texture. The oak aging adds an elegant complexity, making it a versatile wine perfect for any occasion.

Master Selection Rosé: Crafted from 100% Sangiovese, the Rosé captures a fresh and elegant character, with delicate aromas of summer fruits and a smooth, crisp finish. It’s a perfect balance of lightness and complexity, reflecting the harmony of nature and craftsmanship in every sip.

Master Selection Late Harvest Chenin Blanc: Our Late Harvest Chenin Blanc is a rich and indulgent wine, made from hand-picked grapes that have naturally ripened on the vine. The result is a wine with luscious flavors of dried fruits, honey, and caramel, complemented by a smooth, velvety texture. Perfect for those who appreciate sweetness with depth, this dessert wine offers a beautiful, lingering finish that elevates any occasion.

A New Avatar

For the first time since its inception in 2007, Fratelli is proud to present its award winning wines in a fresh new avatar. The same wines, much loved across India, now have a new look!

Brought together by love and driven forward by passion, Fratelli is symbolic of a vision manifested by three families who aspired to tell stories through the art of winemaking. This dream was made a reality in creating world class wines from grapes grown on Indian terroir at the Fratelli estate owned vineyard at Akluj, Maharashtra.

Fratelli’s new visual identity was envisioned by the late Mr. Kapil Sekhri, who is also one of the seven founding brothers of the Fratelli family. Through this re-design and reinvigorated outlook, we hoped to pay a heartfelt tribute to Kapil and to share the story of love, passion and a shared dream of the three families at the heart of the brand. If you look closely, you can see Kapil’s golden glass - an homage to his hard work which has brought us where we are today.

A literal representation of Fratelli (which means ‘brothers’ in Italian), the new labels for the brand’s single varietal range of wines feature a stylized abstract illustration of a family portrait of the brothers of Fratelli – the Secci brothers from Italy and the Sekhri and Mohite-Patil brothers from India – bonding over a glass of wine.

Our single varietal portfolio of wines, with its original essence intact, consists of 10 different distinct variants – Merlot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc-Shiraz, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Sangiovese Bianco, Sauvignon Blanc, Chennin Blanc, Shiraz Rosé. Our brand new bottles, fresh from our state-of-the-art winery at Akluj, are coming soon to a store near you!

Story of Fratelli

As the sun set on a warm afternoon in 2006, the seeds of a new dream bloomed to life - Fratelli. Brought together by love and driven forward by passion, Fratelli is symbolic of  a vision manifested by three families who aspired to tell stories through the art of winemaking.

Crowned Fratelli, which means ‘brothers’ in Italian, the collaboration was birthed as the Secci brothers from Italy joined hands with the Sekhri and Mohite-Patil brothers from India.

Committed to bringing new life to wine culture through a blend of Indian terroir and Italian craft, Fratelli’s vineyards have become the birthplace of award winning varietals.

Under the guiding hand of Piero Masi, a master winemaker from Tuscany, the estate has been developing an eclectic and select range of wines since 2007. The house of Fratelli continues to thrive, forging bonds through every glass of exquisite wine, turning friends into family.

Our founder late Mr Kapil Sekhri left for heavenly abode in October 2020. He was a champion in shaping the name Fratelli to be synonymous with premium Indian wines. His dreams now lives in our hearts and we are committed to making them come true

Our Vineyards

India’s largest privately owned wine estate, our terroir is at the heart of our work.

After months of soil testing across India, these grasslands were chosen by our in-house winemaking expert Piero Masi who has since been the chief viticulturist and winemaker at Fratelli. 

Our vineyards lie in the rolling hills of the Sholapur region in Maharashtra, blessed with perfectly nutrient poor and highly mineral soils. 

 Combined with the temperate Maharashtrian climate, we produce wines which showcase varietal purity and playfulness. 

Currently a sanctuary to several noteworthy international and pioneering grape varieties, like Sangiovese and Chardonnay, the Fratelli Vineyards offer up the idiom that anything is possible in India given the dedication of a devoted team.

We seek to empower and uplift the lives of everyone working within and around the Fratelli story. We employ about 100 women in our vineyards, creating better livelihoods by encouraging equal opportunity and self sufficiency. We believe that through care for the Fratelli family, our grapes and wines absorb the trickle down of the love we invest, making it a product of reverence and affection.

Apart from our very own estate of two hundred and forty acres, we have also partnered with surrounding farms in the region to expand our family of Fratelli Farmers. As a result of this endeavour, we build our community within and around the vineyards, empowering the lives of hundreds and uplifting Akluj from an obscure area to an internationally recognised destination.

Our Winery

Our state of the art, ultra modern winery facility is the perfect environment for Piero and his team to weave their magic on what are recognised as the most diverse range of both classic and unique wine grape varietals on the Indian subcontinent.

Our 40,000 sqft winery houses the very best winemaking equipment from Europe. Bottling and labelling lines from gai in Italy, over 70 multicapacity fermentation tanks imported from Velo, Itay, and the finest quality French Oak barrels, are the essential tools necessary to ensure the very best platform for the production of world class wine.

The winery's high tech laboratory also ensures the highest level of quality disciplines are maintained at each and every step of the winemaking process.

Piero's commitment to producing authentic, single vineyard reserve wines means to appreciate and foster the character of each vineyard and to apply maximum care to achieve the finest wine quality. An especially important factor applied in our cellar is the choice of barrels used for ageing, and in particular the choice of wood which in our case is the highest quality French Oak from exclusive coopers, Demptos and Saury.

We also feel the right capacity containers is essential for creating balance and elegance in the wines. This is the reason why we have barrels of vaying capacities in the cellar that are used depending on each wine component's specific requirements. Our principles emphasize individuality and diversity, ensuring each of our reserve wines are distinctive and unique.

Cheese

If you are looking to create a magnificent culinary experience with our wines, our artisanal cheeses are the perfect place to start.

A special variety of locally produced cheeses, this range is crafted by Käse exclusively for Fratelli making our cheese and wine pairings a match made in heaven.

The faces behind Käse, Namrata and Anuradha, lead the company keeping in mind the importance of uplifting communities through high calibre production methods. After leaving a corporate job, Anuradha teamed up with Namrata to bring their mutual love of cheese to fruition. Käse cheeses are made by specially abled women, creating an environment of empowerment and freedom through ethical and socially beneficial methods. This conscious collaboration radiates positivity through every facet of the process, emphasising the values we hold sacred at Fratelli.

J’NOON

All our endeavours at Fratelli are inspired by our wine first. In 2016, when Jean-Charles Boisset visited our vineyards and tasted our wine straight from the barrels he fell in love with our vinted produce. Thus began the collaboration. Taken from the Urdu word Junoon which means passion, we titled this range of wines J’noon as a symbol of what brought together two teams from across the world led by Boisset and Fratelli respectively - a passion for quality wine.

A wine base made by our in-house master winemakers Piero Masi and Vrushal Kedhari, brought in tandem with exclusive blends crafted by Jean-Charles Boisset results in a superbly diverse set of vintages. Boisset, proprietor of Boisset Collection, brings decades of experience to the collaborative endeavour with values which align with ours - authentic craft and terroir-driven winemaking.  The J’noon range boasts a white wine, a red wine and also the JCB No. 47, named in tribute to the year India won its independence from colonial rule.
